Know More about the Role of Christian Clergy
The religious leadership of a religious community is known as the clergy.  For example, the Jews have their Rabbis, the Muslims had their imams and in the same manner, the Christians have their priests.  They do the job of a religious leader; to make sure that all the rituals are followed carefully any members of the congregation know everything about the practice and the doctrine of that particular religion.  The Christian clergy, like the clergymen of other religions, have to take care for the religious aspects of the daily life, like Birth, baptism, confirmation ceremonies, coming of age ceremonies, weddings and death.

Priesthood in any religion is going to be a completely trained body of religious authorities, who take the role of an intermediary between God and the common people.  In ancient times, priests came in the form of Druids, oracles and Shamans.  They sacrificed to the gods, took the offerings given to the gods about the devotees and used those offerings for the benefit of the community, and did every single ritual, which was necessary for ensuring the prosperity and long life of the people belonging to the community.  This is exactly what the Christian clergy do today.  There is a difference between clergymen and theologians.

Clergymen have religious duties, but theologians are scholars who study religion.  The position of clergymen in Christianity can be priests, deacons, ministers and bishops.  On the other hand, some people are not ordained, but still have a role in the rituals of worship.  These are not considered clergymen.  If they happen to be acolytes or laypeople, they have to have approval, so that they can go about in the exercising of these duties.
