The Word “Orthodoxy “stands for correct teaching and true glory and that are why the Orthodox Church considers itself the only true Church, because according to its tenets, the beliefs and the faith which is followed by this church is different from the other doctrines and beliefs, followed by the Roman Catholic church.  The Orthodox Church is the second largest Church or Christian communion, in the world.  The followers of the Orthodox Church to believe them to be following in the tenets set down by the only Church.  Jesus Christ as well as his Apostles established the Church and set out the tenets for the only One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic Church.

Here the word Catholic does not mean any relation to the Roman Catholic Church.  It means “universal.” Instead of dioceses, this Church consists of ecclesial bodies which are unified under the guidance of bishops, whose priority is the teaching of Church practices, and the apostolic traditions.  All of these bishops can trace their genealogical line back to one of the Apostles.  This apostolic succession has been coming down uninterrupted through the centuries.

The split between Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy came in 1054, because of theological differences.  The Roman Catholic Church wanted to hold primacy.  That is the reason why there is such a rift still going on between the two Churches.

The Eastern Orthodox Church believes in the divinity of Jesus Christ.  Through this divinity only can a man partake in the divine.  The Western Orthodox Church does not follow the teaching.  Instead of statues, icons are more prominent in Eastern Orthodox Churches.
