Know more about the Roman Catholic Church
There is a difference between the words Church, and church. A Christian Church, which includes the believers who follow the tenets of Christianity, can include other traditions of Christianity within itself. These Christian traditions are known as churches. For example, the most important Christian church in the world today is the Roman Catholic Church, which is followed by 1/6th of the population of the word. In fact, half of these Christians are Roman Catholic.
This Catholic Church is made up of 23 churches that include Eastern Catholic, Syro- Malabar and Latin rite. All the independent dioceses, which belong to the Roman Catholic Church, also come under the name church. The Pope is the supreme authority in the matters of morality, faith, and the governance of the Roman Catholic Church. A Catholic Church is made up of a ministry, which is horribly in and the members who belong to the parish, diocese and laity. But the ministers as well as the members of the laity can belong to religious communities which are organised and follow the tenets of Christianity.
The main purpose of the Roman Catholic Church is to spread the word of Jesus Christ, exercise charity and good will towards everyone, irrespective of religion caste and creed, and the administration of the sacraments. This Church operates missions, hospitals, schools, universities, and shelters all over the world. Catholic institutions and programmes help the elderly, the poor, and the sick. The Roman Catholic Church considers itself the true church, coming down from the St Peter's consecration as the first Pope by Jesus. That is the view, which is being shared by many historians. That is also the reason why the church follows the guidelines set down by Jesus, so that there is no doctrinal error or conflict of doctrine beliefs ever.
