Mary Scully was born in Omagh, Northern Ireland. She studied at the Guildhall school of music and drama.

She has been principal bass of the Guildhall String Ensemble and has played principal in many chamber and symphony orchestras in London.  

Mary has played principal bass in session orchestras for much of her career, often on request from composers such as Hans Zimmer and is currently a session player recording for films and TV.
