British-German violinist Jack Liebeck, praised for his “flawless technical mastery” and “beguiling silvery tone” (BBC Music Magazine), is the Royal Academy of Music’s first Émile Sauret Professor of Violin and Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, whose programming has been described by Limelight Magazine as “diverse and interesting.”

His repertoire ranges from the elegance of Mozart to contemporary works such as Brett Dean’s The Lost Art of Letter Writing. A frequent collaborator with Professor Brian Cox, Liebeck has premiered major concertos including Dario Marianelli’s Voyager and Paul Dean’s A Brief History of Time, commemorating Professor Stephen Hawking.

In 2023, he premiered Taylor Scott Davis’s To Sing of Love: A Triptych with the VOCES8 Foundation Choir and Orchestra. Recent and forthcoming engagements include performances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Spokane Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Wigmore Hall, the La Jolla Music Society SummerFest, and the Australian Youth Orchestra.

His forthcoming recordings feature collaborations with the VOCES8 Foundation Choir and Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, London Choral Sinfonia and pianist Anna Tilbrook. His recording of the Schoenberg and Brahms violin concertos with the BBC Symphony Orchestra was selected as BBC Music Magazine’s Recommended Recording of the Brahms Concerto. Other acclaimed recordings include Ysaÿe’s Six Sonatas, The Lark Ascending with VOCES8, and projects with Michael Morpurgo and Alan Titchmarsh.

As Émile Sauret Professor of Violin, Liebeck mentors the next generation of performers and collaborates with the digital teaching platform NomadPlay. He has written for The Strad, Classical Music magazine and appeared on BBC Radio 3’s Inside Music. He performs on the 'Ex-Wilhelmj' J.B. Guadagnini (1785) with a Joseph Henry bow, generously loaned by Kathron Sturrock in memory of her late husband, Professor David Bennett.
